Random notes to remember some amari.

  • Faccia Brutto Fernet Pianta
    • first had this in a cocktail similar to Far Above the World, where it came across as very minty and light and complex
    • tasted on its own the rich, bitter spice notes come through more than the mint - I’ve been adding mint bitters to pull out the mint notes
  • Leopold Bros Fernet
    • minty and rich and complex, like a minty Christmas pudding
  • Alta Verde
    • bitter finish like#malort but much more interesting nose and palate. Floral, delicate, almost elderflower-like.
  • Lo-Fi Gentian Amaro
    • Quite sweet, good in cocktails with fresh fruit (muddled or juiced)
  • Amaro Lucano
    • Nose: gingerbread, cherry jam. Palate: fruitcake, raisins. Finish: licorice, plum.
  • Amaro Nardini
    • Gentle mint, milk chocolate, citrus, licorice. Very approachable. Could stand in for China-China but more mellow.
